Our founder Don Finkell has devoted much of his career to promoting responsible practices for the hardwood industry. A passionate advocate for sustainable forestry across the world, Don is known for helping lead a successful effort by the National Wood Flooring Association’s Legislative Relations Committee to adopt a formal stance against illegal logging. Don was instrumental in helping pass the Combat Illegal Logging Act, an amendment to the Lacey Act that enforces stringent rules for hardwood sourcing outside the US. Don’s environmental leadership at Anderson was recognized by the Hardwood Forestry Fund’s Gifford Pinchot Award for outstanding contributions towards advancing conservation interpretation and education, while caring for the land and serving people. His contributions have also been recognized with a 2009 Floor Covering Weekly Green Step for environmental contributions to the floor covering industry, and the 2014 Al Wahnon Lifetime Achievement Award presented by Floor Covering News.
